Speakers will be sharing their expertise and insights about Digital.
Mariya Gabriel is EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society. Prior to that, she served two terms as MEP from 2009 – 2017. She was also Head of the Bulgarian EPP Delegations and Vice-President of the EPP Group responsible for relations with Mediterranean countries.
Elżbieta Bieńkowska is EU Commissioner in charge of Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. She served as Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Development from 2013 – 2014.
Carlos Moedas serves as EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation. Prior to joining the EU Commission, he worked as Secretary of State to the Prime Minister of Portugal. He was also a Member of the Portuguese Parliament.
Věra Jourová is EU Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality. Previously, she was the Czech Minister for Regional Development.
Giovanni Buttarelli is the European Data Protection Supervisor. Before joining the EDPS, he was Secretary General at the Italian Data Protection Authority from 1997-2009.
Paulo Empadinhas serves as Head of Administration and Stakeholders at ENISA - The EU Cyber Security Agency. Previously, he worked at the European External Action Service, where he led the Procurement Department in Iraq. He also worked for the United Nations as Regional Cluster Manager.
Gerhard Lakemeyer is a Professor of Computer Science at the Aachen University of Technology. He is also Head of The Knowledge-Based System Group, which focuses on topics in knowledge representation, artificial intelligence, and cognitive robotics.
Monique Goyens is Director General of BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation. As a consumer expert and advocate, she represents independent national consumer associations in Brussels.
Roberto Viola serves as Director General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology - DG CONNECT. Prior to that, he was Secretary General at AGCOM, Italian Regulatory Authority for electronic communication, postal, audiovisual and media services.
Tiina Astola was appointed as Director General at the DG Justice and Consumers in 2015. Throughout her career she held a variety of positions in Finland, including management posts, in the Ministries of Justice and of Finance.
Kaja Kallas is an MEP from Estonia. Prior to joining the European Parliament, she served as MP of Estonia as well as a lawyer specialized in competition law. As a rapporteur for the strategic report on the Digital Single Market, she called for actions to remove barriers in the digital world.
Elissavet Vozemberg-Vrionidi is an MEP from Greece. Before joining the European Parliament, she was a Member of the Greek Parliament from 2009 – 2012. She has been practicing law since 1982, specialising in criminal and family law.
Mady Delvaux is an MEP from Luxembourg. She worked as Minister of Transport and Minister of Health, Social Security, Youth and Sport in Luxembourg. As a rapporteur for the resolution on robotics, she focuses on establishing EU-wide rules enforcing ethical standards.
Khalil Rouhana works as Deputy Director General in DG CONNECT where he oversees the overall strategic orientation and management, with a special focus on research and innovation programmes, digital industry and the digital transformation of the public sector and services.
Claire Bury is Deputy Director General in DG CONNECT with responsibility for regulatory aspects of the Digital Single Market. Previously she worked at DG Internal Market and subsequently DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, covering various aspects of the internal market.
